Chemistry A-level Christmas Revision Classes – Online

Our Chemistry mock preparation courses will get students off to a flying start with their January mock preparation. Tutors will revise key Year 13 content which is likely to have been covered in the Autumn term. Attention will then be focused on improving exam technique. By showing students how to think like an examiner, tutors will enable students to consistently hit all assessment objectives and score those top marks. Getting the ball rolling early with revision means students will have time to work on any weaknesses identified by the course during the Christmas holidays. Having this time to consolidate the skills and knowledge learnt means students will be ready to ace their exams when they return to school.

Learners are supported beyond the course through the provision of high-quality, comprehensive and original material including notes, guides and question booklets. These resources have been specially designed and created to supplement the learning experience.

Tutors

Our Chemistry tutors are qualified teachers. Their enthusiastic and accessible teaching styles enable students to feel able to ask questions and interact in discussions. Our tutors receive consistently good feedback from students. Their expert knowledge and fresh teaching approach will help everything click into place.

Sean Corcoran

Sean has been teaching chemistry for an impressive 34 years. He’s worked in state and independent schools throughout Yorkshire, including the nationally acclaimed Greenhead Sixth Form College, and has held positions including head of chemistry and head of science. More recently, he was a year head at The Grammar School at Leeds, where he maintained a pastoral responsibility for both GCSE and A Level students.

Sean now works part-time as a GCSE and A Level Chemistry tutor, offering both in-person and online lessons. In addition to his broad knowledge, his experience as an A Level examiner (for both AQA and Cambridge International Examinations) allows him to thoroughly prepare students for their exams while helping them to develop their independent learning skills and confidence. Outside teaching, Sean enjoys rounds of golf, cycling through the glorious Yorkshire countryside, and spending time with his family.

Jenny Werren

Jenny has taught chemistry for an impressive 15 years, working as a classroom teacher and a private tutor. She’s an expert when it comes to the OCR (A) syllabus, having taught it for seven years. She currently teaches at a private school in Buckinghamshire, using her evenings to tutor private students.

Jenny is an enthusiastic teacher who loves nothing more than seeing the confidence of her students grow. She particularly enjoys the challenges of mole calculation and relishes teaching the topic on Benzene, where she gets to draw mechanisms – something that always makes her happy. In her spare time, Jenny enjoys walking her enormous dog with her daughter, conversing with her chickens, and learning calligraphy.

Michail Davies

Michail, also known as Mike, holds a first class honours degree and a PhD in Chemistry. He spent many years working in a wide range of technical and managerial roles, before eventually finding his calling as a teacher. He’s now racked up 12 years of experience in education, teaching most UK syllabuses, including Edexcel, AQA, and OCR (A) – his personal favourites.

Mike’s particularly fond of teaching mechanisms in organic chemistry, believing the key to understanding it is viewing it in terms of electrostatics. His teaching approach focuses on developing a thorough knowledge of the course content and confidence-building – believing both are equally essential for successfully answering exam questions. When he’s not teaching, Mike spends his time cycling, volunteering, and watching seabirds.
